RADICAL JEWELRY MAKEOVER
Sidney Caldwell Deaghlan
As to the other issues of responsibility-to self, to studio, community, and environment, I try (and I’ll admit, not always successfully) to behave as if I’m setting an example for someone else. Its the same urge that means I signal in empty parking lots-I figure its simpler just to do it the right way then forget and make a huge anonymous/toxic/possibly on fire mess. Also, I really enjoy what I do, and would like to continue doing it for a while, for which I need to survive my (sometimes crucially clumsy)self, in addition to a myriad of workplace and material specific hazards, some of which we’ve yet to discover. Also, I try to avoid leaving behind mistakes-which usually means not making anything that can’t be disassembled, melted down/reused or buried/burned/eaten.
