RADICAL JEWELRY MAKEOVER
Sidney Caldwell Deaghlan
How do you weigh what techniques and materials you will use?

First to materials-when confronted with so much, so many different kinds of bits and pieces, from different times and places, all sorts of so much precious junk-I pare down to a few things that seem the most…important? That speak the loudest? Mostly I’m looking to be intrigued by something-a surface, a line, a color, and then begin to collect more of those shiny bits and piece them together. When determining a technique to use, it’s generally based entirely on the “origin” material-is it fragile? Old? Is it connective, or primary? What does it demand to be?How can that be achieved as simply and elegantly as possible?
